52% of consumers say they will spend the same as last year and 33% say it will be more. 15% plan to reduce their spending.
The average expenditure planned by the Basques for this Christmas amounts to 558 euros, which is comparable to that of the previous year, according to the ‘zOOm Christmas Spending Intention’ published by the Cetelem Observatory.
This research analyzes the purchasing intentions and behavior of consumers during this Christmas period and was prepared on the basis of a survey conducted by the company Investmarket, with a sample of 1,000 surveys throughout the Spanish state.
The report confirms that in the Basque Country, 52% of consumers plan to spend the same as at Christmas 2023, six points more than the previous year. For their part, 33% of Basques plan to increase expenditure, the same percentage as last year.
The research highlights the seven percentage point decline in the percentage of consumers who will reduce their spending, at 15%.
Type of publication
The research shows that expenditure remains at the same level gifts and family gatherings. Specifically, 50% of Basques plan to maintain their expenditure on Christmas gifts, seven points less than in 2023, while 32% will increase this expenditure, one point more, and another 18% plan to reduce it, nine points less than last year.
Regarding planned expenses for family gatherings, such as food products or decoration elements, 55% say they plan to keep them, compared to 43% the previous year. The percentage of those who plan to increase your budget on these types of purchases, by 29%; and those who want to reduce this fall by 12 points to 16%.
