Firefighters had to rescue three comrades from an accident wreck in Scheibbs (Lower Austria). The emergency vehicle had left the road in a railway underpass. The occupants were injured and trapped.
On Friday evening, the fire brigade vehicle drove on the B 29 from the city center in Scheibbs towards Karl-Höfinger-Promenade. The serious accident took place in the underpass of the Erlauftalbahn.
For reasons still unclear, the truck suddenly swerved and overturned on its right side. The driver’s cab collided with the retaining wall of the underpass.
Accident victim freed from wreckage
The driver (32) and his two passengers (19, 24) were trapped in the wreckage. They had to be liberated by comrades. After treatment by the emergency doctor, the 24-year-old was flown by rescue helicopter to St. Pölten Hospital.
The other two injured people were taken to the local hospital by the rescue team. The cause of the accident is now being investigated by the police.
