A car in Kematen in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land was destroyed by flames on Friday evening: Near the motorway exit, a Hungarian’s car suddenly caught fire in front of a power station. The emergency services quickly arrived on the scene. There were barriers and no one was hurt.
The fire brigade was alerted around 6 p.m. The site was located shortly after the Zirl-Ost motorway exit in the direction of Kematen – on Sellraintalstrasse (L13) in the area of the access to a power plant.
According to police, a fire suddenly broke out in the engine compartment of the car. Within a very short time the vehicle was completely on fire.
Driver has no chance in extinguishing the fire
“The 49-year-old Hungarian driver of the car tried to extinguish the fire with a hand fire extinguisher. “But without success,” say the researchers. When emergency services arrived, the car was on fire.
National highway and highway exit closed
The fire brigade was eventually able to quickly get the situation under control and extinguish the fire. During the operation, the L13 in this area had to be completely closed in both directions, as well as the A12 exit. Fortunately, no one was injured.
