For arson – fire in traditional inn: trial against son

At the beginning of April, a traditional inn in the Grieskirchen district was completely destroyed by fire. Suspicion quickly turned to the operator’s son. The 20-year-old allegedly threw cigarette butts into the paper container. He is due to stand trial for arson in January.

“Temporarily closed due to fire,” still reads the homepage of an inn in the Grieskirchen district. At the beginning of April, the traditional company was completely destroyed by a devastating fire and the innkeeper’s family was able to escape just in time.

It soon became clear that there was arson and the son (20) of the operating couple became the focus of the investigators. He quickly confessed and is released on conditions.

Another incident in May
The trained chef was charged in mid-October and the trial will take place in January. He will then have to stand trial at the Wels Regional Court for arson and attempted arson. The 20-year-old allegedly threw cigarette butts into a paper container in the inn in May and the fire brigade was able to prevent worse.

“I never wanted something like this to happen”
When questioned by the police, the boy initially gave different information, but eventually admitted that he had thrown the cigarette butts into the paper container. During the fire in August, he even noticed the heavy smoke and tried to extinguish it, but then lost his nerve. About the terrible fire he is said to have said: “I never wanted something like this to happen.”
