Álava’s new sustainable mobility plan will entail an investment of 68 million euros over ten years. The Plan aims for a universal, inclusive, sustainable, efficient and safe mobility system, which aims to reduce emissions by 50%.
The Provincial Council of Álava on Monday approved the second Sustainable Mobility Plan of Álava, which will be valid for ten years and aims to expand and improve the regional transport offer with more frequencies, night services, stops in industrial estates and more modern buses. Likewise, this strategic document aims to continue to promote the use of the bicycle for regular short distances.
With more than thirty measures and action proposals to promote these objectives with a total investment greater than 68 million eurosthe Plan strives for a universal, inclusive, sustainable, efficient and safe mobility system, which aims to reduce emissions by 50%.
The Alavabus offer will be improved by 36% with more seats and frequencies to ensure a continuous timetable from 6am to 11pm, with a single transfer from the main centers to hospitals, education centers and train and bus stations.
The night service that connects Vitoria-Gasteiz with nearby cities on weekends and on the eve of holidays is one of the main novelties, as explained by the deputy of Mobility, Johannes Nogales.
The plan also aims to facilitate bus transport to factories. In collaboration with companies, the Provincial Council will study the implementation of special services in the industrial estates of Vitoria-Gasteiz, as well as the granting of support to companies.
