Bomb threats were received by email against more than 30 schools in Innsbruck on Monday! All facilities have been evacuated. The police are investigating: some lessons ended early and students were sent home. At other schools, classes continued after the all-clear. There were also threats in other states.

“Bomb threats have been received against several schools,” said police spokesman Stefan Eder in response to a question from “Krone”. The executive branch took action and the investigation continues in the background. In any case, the situation was taken very seriously. However, no specific danger was assumed.

Some students were sent home
According to Eder, classes in some schools were ended early or at least interrupted for safety reasons. According to information from “Krone”, including in the Bundesrealgymnasium in the Au or at schools near the Kettenbrücke. Several primary schools were also affected.

In the afternoon the full extent became known! “We were warned this morning by bomb threats that affected 33 schools in Innsbruck. Within a very short time, all schools were evacuated and checked in an orderly manner from 11:30 am – safety always comes first,” says Innsbruck Mayor Johannes Anzengruber.

The all-clear was given again around 12.15 pm. Afterwards, schools reopened for classes.

“I also have to leave the house now”
The management of one school said in an email to parents, which was available to the “Kronen”, among other things: “The reason for this abrupt end to classes is that we received a bomb threat and that we of course instructions from police and education department must be followed. I also have to leave the house now.”

A principal of a primary school also informed parents by email: “I can tell you that everything is going well at our school. All children are doing well. We left the building at 11:30 am and returned to the school building at 12:15 pm. The afternoon lessons and afternoon care will continue as usual.”

Operations in various states
Schools in several states received bomb threats on Monday. In addition to Innsbruck, there were also operations in Vienna, Graz and Linz due to threats.

Only at the end of November there was a bomb threat in Innsbruck. Threats were received via email against various “state and federal departments.” The police searched all buildings, including the education directorate. Ultimately the all-clear was given. There were also bomb threats in other states at the time.
