In Bangkok, police arrested 124 people early Sunday morning at a party involving illegal drugs in a hotel. 31 of them were in possession of prohibited drugs such as crystal meth, ecstasy and ketamine.
66 people tested positive for traces of these drugs. Most partygoers were released after interrogation.
The police received the tip about the drug party in the Thai capital early on Sunday morning, said police officer Pansa Amarapitak.
Photos released by the director show the drug discovery (see images above) and mainly male suspects in handcuffs and wearing only their underwear.
Thailand is a major hub for the illicit drug trade in Southeast Asia. Police raids occur regularly and officers often confiscate hard drugs such as heroin and methamphetamine. The country has strict drug laws. Possession of drugs such as ecstasy and methamphetamine can carry a prison sentence of up to ten years.
