Ukraine reports a “remarkable” attack with its self-developed “Sea Baby” naval drones, which have already greatly weakened Russia’s Black Sea Fleet with underwater attacks. Accordingly, even Russian helicopters have now been affected.
According to the domestic secret service SBU, the attack took place on Friday evening in the Kerch Bay, near the Crimean Bridge.
Several Russian army helicopters were reportedly seriously damaged by bullets fired from the water.
Earlier, the helicopters had apparently hunted and fired at the naval drones. The Sea Babies returned fire, damaging the helicopters, which now require repairs.
A Russian ship carrying materials to repair the damaged Crimean Bridge was apparently also hit in the battle. It was badly hit by two Ukrainian attacks in October 2022 and July 2023 and was only of limited use. Since then, this has caused major logistical problems for Putin’s soldiers.
Kiev calls the current events “truly remarkable” and the naval drones have “once again demonstrated their effectiveness.”
