A fatal traffic accident occurred on the A8 near Bernau am Chiemsee in Bavaria on Sunday night. A wrong-way driver (55) collided with an oncoming vehicle and died on the spot.
The 55-year-old was driving in the opposite lane on the A8 near Bernau am Chiemsee towards Munich when the tragic accident occurred. Shortly after midnight, alert witnesses alerted police after seeing the 55-year-old crash into an oncoming car at high speed.
Several cars damaged
The head-on collision sent several debris flying onto the road, causing damage to other vehicles and a coach. Despite first aid measures, all help for the 55-year-old came too late. She died at the scene of the accident.
Two other people were taken to hospital with serious injuries. It is currently unclear why the 55-year-old was driving in the other lane.
