Odor detected – Marlies saved the life of a neighbor during a kitchen fire

Date:

Everyone would like to have a neighbor like that: Marlies called the emergency number in Altmünster on Sunday because she smelled a burning smell coming from the adjacent apartment. The 75-year-old then gave the emergency services the crucial tip for saving the sleeping resident.

Marlies (75) heard a smoke detector in Altmünster on Sunday afternoon around 1 p.m. and also noticed the smell of fire from the next apartment. She immediately called 911 and started the rescue chain.

The arriving police officers immediately noticed smoke coming from the first floor and a tilted window. Then the 75-year-old came into play for the second time: she pointed the officers to an extendable ladder in the basement.

The police climbed onto the balcony
This allowed an officer to climb onto the first floor balcony and enter through the tilted door. Not a second too late, because the resident and his dog were sleeping in an adjacent room. They were able to leave the apartment on time.

The fire brigade then ventilated the apartment. The heavy smoke was coming from the kitchen. Thanks to Maries’ thoughtful efforts, which likely saved a life, no one was injured.
