Called by LAB, Steilas, ELA and CC.OO. non-university teachers are called to quit on January 22 and 23 and February 26-27. The strike at Haurreskolas will take place from January 28 to 29 and February 12 to 13; in kitchens and cleaning this is on January 30-31 and February 19-20.
The unions LAB, Steilas, ELA and CC.OO. have called for several strike days in January and February in non-university public education and among the cleaning and kitchen staff of the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV).
There are a total of twelve strike days, four in each sector. In particular the teachers of public centers are called to stop on January 22 and 23 and February 26 and 27. The strikes in the Consortium Haarreskolak They are on January 28 and 29 and February 12 and 13; in kitchens and cleaning The strike will take place on January 30 and 31 and on February 19 and 20.
Representatives of the four unions appeared in Bilbao this Monday to explain the reasons for the mobilizations. According to what they have reported, the fact of having a new Ministry of Education – Minister Begoña Pedrosa in office since June – continues “with the the same way of acting than in recent years.” In his opinion, the conditions of teaching staff have deteriorated as a result of the “unilateral decision-making” by the department and the “extension permanently of the talk without significant content”. Moreover, they recall that the three sectors have not renewed their agreements for about fifteen years – that for teaching staff dates from 2010, while those for Haurreskolak and cleaning and cooking date from 2009.
Given all this, they insist that “the only option” they have left has been to call for mobilizations.
