At least three people were shot and several others injured at a school in the US state of Wisconsin on Monday. A large contingent of police and rescue workers are currently on duty. The shooter is also believed to be among the dead.
The bloody act took place on Monday morning (local time) at a Christian private school in Madison, where about 400 children and young people from kindergarten age are cared for and educated. The police chief responsible, Shon Barnes, said at a news conference at the scene that children were also among the victims. The perpetrator, who was no longer alive when officers arrived, was also a teenager.
There is currently no danger left at the crime scene or at other schools in the area, Barnes pointed out, who also pointed out a fortunate coincidence: police personnel were just training nearby when they were alerted. That’s why they got there so quickly. The first priority was eliminating the shooter. The police chief reported to the journalists present that the injured were then treated.
