A woman has been found dead after a crocodile attack in Indonesia. Neighbors tried for hours to free the woman from the animal’s mouth, said Kornelius Wau, a local authority official in North Sumatra.
Serious injuries to arms and legs
However, they were only able to find the woman’s body. The victim reportedly suffered serious injuries to his arms and legs. It remained unclear what happened to the animal afterwards.
The crocodile had been spotted repeatedly by residents in the area for some time, it was said.
In Indonesia, the largest island in the world, crocodile attacks are not uncommon, especially in rural areas. According to the Crocattack organization, 170 people in Indonesia were attacked by crocodiles in 2023, 85 of them fatally.
