The mobilizations have already received the support of political groups such as Contigo-Zurekin, which has encouraged citizens to participate in both.
The factory template BSH in Esquiroz has announced mobilizations before the company announcement to close the factory which has more than six hundred employees.
BSH management announced on Monday that it plans to start the process of closing this compact refrigerator and dishwasher factory because it is “no longer competitive.”
In view of the ‘unexpected’ news, according to trade union sources, information meetings were held at the factory to analyze the situation and the first statements against the closure were made from both the trade union and political spheres.
To protest the closure, staff will gather this Wednesday at noon in front of the Navarre parliament and demonstrate on Saturday in the streets of the capital, mobilizations that have already received the support of political groups such as With you-Zurekinwhich has encouraged citizens to participate in both.
In addition, Contigo-Zurekin has demanded that BSH negotiate with the factory workforce representation and with the government of Navarre to try to guarantee the jobs of all affected people.
Offshoring
Given BSH’s decision to close the factory in the next six months, Miguel Garridospokesperson for the coalition for the coalition, recalls that “the process experienced at BSH is the already unfortunately familiar relocation procedure.”
In these processes he adds: “the multinational stops investing in a factory and then announces that it will close it due to a perceived lack of competitiveness caused by the company itself”. In this context, he points out that they will demand that the company enter into negotiations and involve the government of Navarre in the search for solutions for its more than 650 employees.
In addition to BSH, Contigo Navarra-Zurekin Nafarroa shows its concern about the situation that other Susundegui industries, among others, are currently experiencing.
In the same way, the PSN-PSOE has expressed its support for BSH employees, demanding that the multinational not close the Esquíroz factory and agree on an investment plan that will make the company viable.
The secretary of the organization of the PSN-PSOE, Ramon Alzorrizrecalls in a statement that BSH is a “specialized template” who has been working for years and who, he emphasizes, ‘does not deserve this outcome.
According to him, the company’s argument of “lack of competitiveness in the market” is due to a lack of investment. “If there is no interest in promoting a plant, no investment is made and that certainly entails a lack of competitiveness in the market”he says about this.
