It must have been a shocking picture: on June 14 of this year, three dead blackbirds were found on a hiking trail in Fernitz between Etschbachstrasse and Buchkogelstrasse. They were brutally nailed to a tree trunk!
Then, on June 24, the security guard reported again: A rabbit’s carcass was also nailed to a tree trunk – very close to the first crime scene.
Didn’t happen for the first time
Such incidents have not occurred for the first time in the Hausmannstätten area. At the end of April 2021, a skinned and decapitated rabbit was found in the Berndorf district, also nailed to a tree trunk.
Police suspect one and the same animal abuser
Due to the similarity of the incidents, a connection between the actions is obvious. The investigation by the Hausmannstätten police is still ongoing.
