Brazen pickpocketing on a Tuesday morning in Tyrol! After a 76-year-old woman withdrew several thousand euros from a bank, a duo apparently followed her and eventually forcibly snatched her cloth bag. The police are now looking for witnesses.
At around 11.15am the local woman was on the Mühlenweg, a remote footpath, on her way home to Imst. A few meters in front of the woman, a man and a woman were walking in the same direction. “When the 76-year-old noticed that the pedestrian overpass was blocked, she turned around,” police said. At that moment, the unknown man rushed up to the Tyrolean woman and tried to take the cloth bag she was carrying. However, that failed.
The search was unsuccessful
The unknown woman approached the 76-year-old and pretended to offer her help. The two women were walking back towards Floriangasse together when the unknown man returned to the Mühlenweg near the so-called “Grissemannhaus” and was eventually able to take the 76-year-old’s bag by force. He then fled towards Floriangasse, where the woman eventually ran away. An immediately initiated search was unsuccessful.
High four-digit euro amount disappeared
“Based on investigation, it was determined that the 76-year-old, who had previously visited a bank branch, had at least been observed by the female suspect. “As a result of the act, the Austrian woman suffered damages amounting to a high four-figure sum in euros,” the researchers said.
The two suspects are described as follows:
- Man, slim build, approximately 1.60 meters tall, southern type, black cap, black clothing
- Woman, about 1.60-1.70 m tall, black hair, white fur jacket, black shiny leather pants, black handbag
During the investigation it was possible to ensure that the female suspects were admitted. The Imst police requests all useful information via 059133/7100-300.
