The US has launched attacks on Houthi militia positions in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The US Central Command (CENTCOM), which is responsible for the Middle East, said on Saturday that a missile depot and a command center were among the targets.
During the operation, US forces also shot down several Houthi drones and a cruise missile over the Red Sea. Explosions were heard in Sanaa on Saturday evening. The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV station reported an attack on Attan district.
The US has repeatedly attacked Houthi targets in Yemen in recent months. Like the Lebanese Hezbollah, the militia is part of the Iranian-led ‘Axis of Resistance’ aimed against Israel, which also includes the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas.
On Saturday evening, a rocket fired by the Houthis hit the Israeli coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv. 16 people were injured.
