A weather-related traffic accident on the B50 (Burgenland) ended relatively mildly on Christmas Eve around 7:30 PM. According to the State Security Center (LSZ), a tree fell on a car near Bernstein (Oberwart district). One person was slightly injured and was taken to Oberwart’s ambulance.
According to the Oberwart district fire command, the person trapped in the vehicle had to be freed by emergency workers. The tree remained on top of the car and also damaged another car. According to the LSZ, an emergency doctor and two ambulances, three fire brigades (Mariasdorf, Oberschützen and Bernstein with 45 men) and the police were deployed to the accident on the B50.

The Oberwart district fire command reported a large number of storm operations on Christmas Eve. Fallen trees and covered roofs kept the helpers on their toes.
The FF Oberwart, Unterwart, Großpetersdorf, Kohfidisch, Goberling and Dürnbach were deployed with approximately 120 volunteers during the day. According to the district command, no injuries have been reported in these cases. According to an LSZ spokeswoman, three more storms were recorded in Burgenland from Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. to Christmas Day at 7 a.m.
