It was in October when a young soldier was killed in the Spittal Türkkaserne in Carinthia by a shot from a comrade (20). To this day, the suspect maintains that the firing of the bullet was an accident. But now the ballistics report is available and it becomes clear: the likelihood of the 20-year-old’s variant is questionable.
The fatal shot that shattered the lungs of his Turkish-born comrade “Musti” was an accident. This is the statement of the 20-year-old comrade, who has been in custody since the events. But the ballistics report, available to the “Krone”, now reveals more details about the crime.
Fuses showed no defects
This shows that neither the weapon nor the holster are defective. “The functional tests carried out here revealed no defects in the fuses. “Everyone works flawlessly – and independently of each other,” is the assessment. It must be assumed that the numerous fuses on the weapon must have been deliberately activated. “The shot must therefore have been actively fired,” Nikolaus Rast, lawyer for the victim’s family, said with certainty to the “Krone”.
In his statement, the 20-year-old soldier explains that his weapon fell from his belt just seconds before the fatal shot. The young man would have reflexively tried to grab the gun with his thigh, but he would have grabbed it briefly. When asked whether he had the object, that is, the weapon, in him for at least a short time
persisted one way or another, he said: “That probably would have been the case for a short time. But I can’t say exactly how I got the gun
participation. Then a shot rang out and only then did the gun fall to the ground.”
This is evident from the shooting report
However, a shooting report that has already been carried out now shows that a fatal shot would only have been possible from standing or sitting with an outstretched hand. Furthermore, the bullet would have had to have been fired from about two meters away. These results would therefore not match the descriptions of the suspect.
“It is incomprehensible why, despite this overwhelming burden of evidence, the perpetrator does not even contribute to finding the truth, let alone admit to his crime,” says Rast in an indignant interview with ‘Krone’. According to him, the investigations carried out by the police in Klagenfurt must be completed seamlessly and perfectly. “I assume that the Klagenfurt public prosecutor will now file a murder charge or request a reconstruction of the crime scene. Anything else would be unthinkable,” said Rast.
For the next detention test you have to wait until February.
