The Rottweiler bit a local girl in the shoulder, upper arm and lower leg in Kirchberg ob der Donau on Wednesday. The six-year-old was immediately taken to Kepler University Hospital in Linz after the dog attack. After an operation she is still in the normal ward.

What exactly happened to the Rottweiler – the owner’s daughter (10) was doing training exercises with the four-legged friend behind the house at the time of the attack – must be clarified by the Rohrbach district administration and the municipality. In extreme cases, euthanasia may be ordered. In any case, it is already clear that the owner will voluntarily give up his pet.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the dog owner for negligent bodily harm. A standard procedure in such cases, state police say.
