Emojis as bait: drug dealers discover social media themselves

Whether it’s marijuana, ecstasy, meth, coke or heroin: if you want to buy drugs, you no longer have to go to dark parks or shady alleys at night, or delve into the depths of the dark web. Instead, it only takes a few clicks on social media. Krone+ is facing a problem of enormous proportions that is apparently difficult to address.

“With the growth of social media and the proliferation of smartphones, a dangerous and deadly new drug threat has emerged: criminal drug networks are exploiting social media to expand their reach, enter new markets and appeal to new audiences,” said the Drug Enforcement Administration. (DEA) recently warned in the US.
