Serious arson – rocket influencer arrested at airport

23-year-old Atallah Younes is suspected of having committed “serious arson on New Year’s Eve”, the Berlin police said on the short message service. When he was able to get home, he was arrested around 5 p.m.

He is accused of deliberately firing a fireworks rocket at an apartment on the third floor of an apartment building. The director said in a statement that “the furniture in the 33-year-old owner’s bedroom was damaged.” However, previous media reports stated that the projectile exploded in a child’s room.

The fact that the fire from the burning rocket did not spread to the apartment was only due to the quick reaction of the apartment owner. The man threw the remains of the bullet out the window. Everyone in the apartment was unharmed in the incident.

The influencer made it extremely easy for researchers to find him. Younes himself posted a video of the crime on his channels. After a large number of negative reactions, he deleted the clip and published an apology – also asking the apartment owner for forgiveness, he explained in a post.

In an interview with the magazine “Zeit” he also explained that he did not know how a rocket worked – he could not understand the investigations against him, after all, he did not want to deliberately hurt anyone. He was shocked by the racist messages he received. He also announced that he wanted to fly back to his home country on Saturday – and thus probably saved the investigators from extra work.
