Clouds, precipitation and sleet: this is what awaits us throughout Austria in the coming days. From Thursday, the cold front will in some cases even cause temperatures below freezing and may bring fresh snow.
The Assembly still shows its mild side, with maximum temperatures of up to 16 degrees in the east of the country. The mix of clouds and rain is mainly visible in the south. The snowfall limit is between 1300 and 1800 meters above sea level. Strong to strong foehn winds are expected on the north side of the Alps and in the southeast.
It also stays on in the morning Tuesday still quite mild. Dense clouds are not expected until the afternoon. Only in the west the clouds clear up a bit and the sun even shines through occasionally. The snowfall line drops to 400 to 900 meters. The temperatures are between zero and ten degrees. It will be warmest in the east.
There is a local risk of icy conditions Wednesday throughout Austria. The mild temperatures and precipitation can cause freezing rain. When rain falls on supercooled ground, sleet is inevitable. Temperatures between minus one and plus eight degrees are expected until the afternoon. The sun only shows itself more often in the south and southeast.
A strong cold front will… Thursday again for a large-scale risk of black ice on Austrian roads. From Salzburg to the east there are always sunny windows, but these are replaced by low cloud and precipitation in the late afternoon. The snow line in the valleys is also at 1,100 meters. At night, the cold front reaches the entire foothills of the Alps and the east. The temperatures are between minus one and plus six degrees.
