A dash of stars was enough and a living room in Lauterach (Vbg.) was completely on fire – two dogs and a cat were dead!
Dry trees burn like tinder – a family in Vorarlberg had to experience this warning from the fire brigade first-hand. It was supposed to be a contemplative Saturday evening in Lauterach. The grandchildren were visiting and the 62-year-old grandmother wanted to quietly light the old Christmas tree one last time.
Flames spread like lightning
But one dash of stars was enough and half the living room was on fire. The woman and her husband’s initial attempts to extinguish the fire were unsuccessful and the flames spread quickly. The residents had no choice but to grab their grandchildren and flee the fire. Two dogs and a cat had to be left behind and died miserably.
The Florianis, who were subsequently alerted, were finally able to control the flames and extinguish the fire. The shocked adults and the two children were taken to a hospital for evaluation. The house is now uninhabitable.
