Excitement in Block of Flats – Desperate Neighbor: “Like a stinking ghost”

Date:

For months there has been a constant stench in the stairwell of an apartment building in Innsbruck. The situation is deteriorating for the residents, and now even their health is at risk. Apparently nothing can be done about it. Or is it?

When “Krone” editor Nadine Isser was on site for the second time for a “local nose certificate”, she was met in the stairwell with such a pungent smell that she had to get out into fresh air immediately – otherwise an accident would have happened. happened that the smell in the stairwell would certainly not have been beneficial. “That’s nothing!” A neighbor describes the situation, “They just cleaned it, it’s usually much worse!”

As proof, she walks into her apartment without turning up her nose: “If it was always this way, you could still bear it.”

Cream spray really hits the woman
The “Tiroler Krone” recently reported on odor nuisance in an apartment building in Innsbruck. A few weeks ago, the woman who didn’t know what to do got in touch: An odor of feces, urine, rotten eggs and decay was coming from an apartment on her floor. The reason for the renewed conversation is that the situation for the pensioner has deteriorated: she has had several operations on her vocal cords and has been suffering from neck and chest complaints for a long time. Now the problem is compounded by all the room spray she needs for the stairwell to make the smell bearable. ‘Otherwise I’ll have to throw up’, the pensioner explains.

“He’s like a stinking ghost”
When the “Krone” is on site, the occupant of the affected apartment cannot be found. “But it never opens anyway,” explains the woman. She doesn’t know much about him, “he’s like a stinking ghost. You don’t hear or see anything, only once have I seen him come back from shopping. An elderly, thin gentleman who is apparently ill. The janitor says he has left the apartment once and that it’s neat. But apparently he doesn’t want to be helped. You have to do something there!”

The situation is difficult. The police cannot help because this case is not covered by criminal law. Officials will still come by – if you give the “Tiroler Krone” information – and offer their help. The responsible office in the city of Innsbruck says the only way to intervene is through civil law. You could also send a social worker. All difficult if the Lord wants to be left alone.

Real estate company has now contacted
The contacted landlord does not want to respond. Yet something seems to have started: “A woman from a real estate company has contacted me,” says the retiree concerned, “we will intervene.” Hopefully – for the smell-ridden residents of the house as well as for the man himself.
