The black heavyweight, born in Mauthen (now Kötschach-Mauthen), was previously not only governor of Salzburg, but also minister of finance in Gorbach’s government from 1961 to 1963. When Klaus became Chancellor, he also took over the federal ÖVP from 1964 to 1970. 61 years later, someone born in Carinthia has another chance to become chancellor.
