As reported, a prisoner (25) escaped on Tuesday during an X-ray examination at the accident hospital in Salzburg. The Kosovar took advantage of the moment and was able to shake off his prison guards after a short chase.
“The search continues,” said the police in Puch-Urstein prison in unison. The man is actually in custody for various property crimes. It is generally rated as “not dangerous”.
“Cases like this are extremely rare,” said Chief Inspector Johannes Ebner of Puch-Urstein prison. According to data from the Ministry of Justice, one prison break and three so-called escapes have occurred in Salzburg since 2020. What does that mean? These happen when detainees – as in the current case – have to be taken to an external hospital for examination or have to work outside prison walls.

- A suspected rapist and robber managed to escape from the Christian Doppler Clinic in 2012.
