A legend no longer exists. Kurt Nessl died at just 62 years old. There is great sadness in Styrian football, especially at his former clubs Flavia Solva and GAK.
Nessl was active in Styria with Leibnitz, Kapfenberg, GAK, DSV Leoben, Straß, Arnfels, AC Linden and Flavia Solva. Nessl scored 19 goals in 84 first division games for GAK.
Nessl was also active as a coach in Styrian football and coached at Leibnitz, Straß, Wildon, Gralla, Flavia Solva, Tillmitsch, Kaindorf/Sulm and Großklein.
“Toni Polster from South Styria”
In the 1984/85 season, “Toni Polster der Südsteiermark” scored the goal of the year for Flavia in the Second Division. With Flavia, Nessl, who was crowned top scorer at the time, only lost promotion to the Bundesliga in the Second Division on the last match day in 1985.
