Bonobos instead of football fans: a Dutch aviation athlete missed his target and ended up in a monkey enclosure. Nevertheless, he could consider himself lucky.
The man was probably really lucky: “A hundred meters further and he would have either ended up with the elephants or with the lions,” reports Robin de Lange, director of Ouwehands Zoo in the municipality of Rhenen (province of Utrecht).
Monkeys indoors
In addition, the monkeys – all bonobos – were confined to the facility at the time of the landing on Saturday afternoon. As news agency ANP reported, the aviation athlete was probably blown away by gusts of wind.
Actually, it should have landed on a nearby football field – as an attraction at the inauguration of the new artificial turf of the regional club Candia ’66.
