The risk of contracting corona continues to increase: the trend has recently been clearly upwards in all federal states, according to the working document of the traffic light committee. Accordingly, there is no longer a low risk in any country. However, the staining should now be treated with caution.
This is mainly due to the criteria that have been taken as the starting point. Recently, the positivity of the tests or the number of them is not counted. The countries where there is hardly any testing will benefit from this. It therefore happens that the two countries that test most often are also the countries with relatively the most infections and are therefore the only ones that have fallen into the orange risk level.
These are the two red-led states of Vienna and Burgenland. A comparison: tests are carried out more than nine times as often in the federal capital per 100,000 inhabitants as in Tyrol. However, the raw daily incidence in Vienna is not even twice as high.
Wastewater monitoring paints a different picture
In addition, the results of the wastewater monitoring also put the informative value of the traffic light colors into perspective. That is where by far the largest tax in Lower Austria was last measured. Of course, there is not too much testing in the federal state, about half as often as in Burgenland. However, the raw seven-day incidence is not much lower.
Nevertheless, the lower measured positive numbers mean that Lower Austria remains in the yellow zone of the average risk, as do all states except Vienna and Burgenland. A low risk (yellow-green) was found in Carinthia, Styria and Upper Austria the week before. Lower Austria has a positivity rate of 14.4 percent for all tests. In the also yellow states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg, this is 22.4 and 22.7 percent respectively. In contrast to Burgenland with 6.5 and Vienna with 4.1 percent.
Number of infections is increasing
Test frequency or not, the number of infections is increasing throughout Austria. The increase was recently between 25 percent in Vorarlberg and 50 percent in Burgenland. The trend is also measurable to almost the same extent in the particularly vulnerable group of over-65s as in the general population. A further increase in the number of plaques is expected in both normal and intensive care. The situation in Carinthia, with the lowest risk number of 30.9, is currently the most favourable. Incidentally, this top position is also given in the raw seven-day incidence and in wastewater monitoring.
With Feldkirchen, Carinthia also has the district with the lowest proven infection incidence. At the other end of the scale are Vienna and Mödling.
