The Alpine season has only just begun and there is already a lot of excitement about the wolf population in neighboring Switzerland. After 71 sheep fell over a rock in the canton of Graubünden and 43 animals died, there are many indications that the crash was caused by wolves.
On the Alp Cristallina in the municipality of Medel (canton of Graubünden), a 71-strong flock of sheep fell over a rocky outcrop on Saturday. A total of 24 animals died immediately, another 19 animals had to be killed. 36 animals survived the fall, some with injuries.
In the area where the sheep were kept overnight, a dead lamb was found with injuries to the neck that resembled a wolf attack. Sightings of several wolves on the alp the following night also suggest the crash is related to a wolf attack. A DNA test has been launched.
