Date:

When the World Economic Forum takes place in Davos from January 20 to 25, our military will be monitoring the skies. Innsbruck will be the base for the majority of aircraft involved in the operation. At the airport they are currently preparing to defend the airspace above Tyrol.

Anyone who looked up at the dull hum above Innsbruck on Thursday might have seen five military green propeller planes approaching the airport. This is a visit from Zeltweg, accompanied by hundreds of ground troops, guarded by armed soldiers. Because on the occasion of the World Economic Forum in Davos, a flight restriction area applies to parts of Vorarlberg and Tyrol. “Daedalus” is the name of the operation with which the Austrian air force supports its Swiss neighbors. Innsbruck is the base for eight Pilatus propeller machines.
