Because her driveway was icy and muddy, delivery people were unable to enter the property of a farmer from Upper Austria. Due to communication problems, she did not receive any mail for a few weeks. But now there is finally a solution in sight.
The delivery person said she couldn’t get to the front door anymore because it was too muddy for her!” What farmer Annemarie Weichselbaumer (68) from Luftenberg told the “Krone” initially sounds like a joke.
Message not found
But the matter is actually serious: “I haven’t received any mail since the end of December, so there should have been several bills,” says the farmer. “So I asked the post office and received this information there. The delivery person supposedly left my mail somewhere else on the premises, but I couldn’t find it!”
Also missing bills
To avoid reminder fees or even foreclosures, the 68-year-old called the companies from which she expected the invoices, or collected the receipts herself. “So far there have never been any problems with the delivery person. Even the fact that she doesn’t want to come to the mailbox isn’t that bad. But the fact that she didn’t tell me where she left the mail is not okay,” Weichselbaumer says angrily. “I’m not the youngest anymore. My garden and property are large. How was I supposed to find my post there?
Hopefully an agreement will be reached soon
The post office has now dealt with the case. A manager from the delivery service visited the controversial 68-year-old. Together they were also able to locate the missing shipments. “The letters were outside under a gutter, and of course they are now gone,” says the dissatisfied farmer. Because she had to stay in bed due to a cold, no agreement was reached during this visit.
Certain properties are off-limits
But: “We are in close contact with Ms. Weichselbaumer to find an individual solution,” assures Post spokeswoman Veronika Rebentisch. The building owner is responsible for the construction and accessibility. However, for insurance reasons, the Post Office cannot deliver certain property.
Mailbox on property line
This is also the case with Ms. Weichselbaumer, whose access road is affected by icy weather, regular road pollution and free-roaming geese. The spokeswoman emphasizes: “Our delivery person is still available to find an individual solution. For example, the customer can arrange a parking permit at a self-chosen, safe and accessible location, or place a mailbox on the property line.”
