Two young women had to experience shocking things in Vienna on Wednesday morning. The two were suddenly surrounded and groped by a group of men in the Favoriten neighborhood. While fleeing, the suspects gave chase.
The act happened early Wednesday evening around 6.40 pm on Keplerplatz. First, the unknown men circled the two young women, ages 18 and 20 — the two Upper Austrians were visiting Vienna to see a friend — and then began groping them. The two were supposed to escape, but two of the assailants followed them and continued to harass them.
Pushed into the apartment
The young women took refuge in an acquaintance’s apartment, but one of the perpetrators allegedly broke into the apartment, but eventually fled with his companion when the acquaintance chased him out of the room. The women were not injured in the attacks.
Police searched for the suspects, but the search was unsuccessful. According to the victims, there were “about eight Arab men who surrounded and harassed them,” police spokesman Christopher Verhnjak told APA.
The investigation is underway. “We were not previously aware of an incident of this magnitude, with a follow-up to the apartment. We are taking the investigation very seriously,” said the police spokesman.
