In Traun, Upper Austria, firefighters were securing a flooded underpass when a reckless driver raced through the puddle and wet it. Apparently he was having fun because he turned around at the intersection and drove past the helpers again. The fire service reported the matter to the police.
“We don’t have much of an apology. Personally, I would be much happier with a hefty fine,” said Oskar Reitberger, commander of the Traun volunteer fire department, who is still annoyed after Wednesday night’s incident. His people were securing or pumping out a flooded underpass when a driver deliberately drove through the puddle and wet the helpers.
“Everyone was all wet”
As if that wasn’t enough, the driver turned around again at the intersection. “With a smiling face and visual contact, he drove through the water again. He drove safely at 60 km/h. Everyone was completely wet,” said the commander.
The helpers noted the license plate number and filed a report with the police. He has since investigated the ruthless driver.
