The Ertzaintza will extend the agreement for the first time since 2012 with an overall salary increase and new productivity. The agreement aims to strengthen services to citizens and respond to the challenges of the future.
The Basque government and the Ertzaintza union majority have agreed on the basis of an agreement that will mark the 2025-2028 legislature and end more than a decade without a collective agreement. This pact will benefit both officers and citizens by considering salary, social and professional improvements.
Specifically, the agreement was supported by the ERNE, ESAN and SIPE unions, which represent more than three-quarters of the Ertzaintza’s representation.
The agreement will specifically involve a total investment of €1 45 million euros until 2028.
Key points include a progressive and differentiated wage increase. Likewise, new financial compensations will be introduced for specific tasks such as citizen assistance, investigative work, crowd control and specialized training.
In the social field, significant progress has been made, such as a 50-hour annual leave to care for sick relatives, improvements in pay for special days and the alignment of working hours with those of other government officials.
The agreement also prioritizes professional development and offers incentives of up to 20 euros per hour of training. This approach aims to modernize the Ertzaintza’s functions and respond more efficiently to current security challenges.
