“I am a monster” – Mother in France Lets daughter (13) starve

As French media reported, the French woman had admitted to locking her child in a room naked and starving for weeks. The woman’s partner was also sentenced to 20 years in prison for failing to provide care.

Amandine died of heart failure and sepsis in August 2020. At his time of death, the 1.55 meter tall girl weighed only 28 kilograms. It had lost teeth and hair, a black eye and infected wounds on its body. The mother had captured the child in a windowless, closed and video-controlled room. At first the woman had denied her guilt. She then admitted in court that she had punished and tortured her child over and over again. “I’m a monster,” she said.

Girl said before lockdown: “I will die”
School staff had called authorities several times on suspicion of abuse. In court, a boarding school supervisor said that Amandine recently went to the fact that the girl had stolen again and again from the school canteen and, even when the weather was warm, never ran around briefly, as the newspaper “Le Parisien” reported. According to media reports, a classmate said, “Amandine often called the day before the weekend because she didn’t want to go home.”

When the school was announced in the spring of 2020 due to the Corona Pandemic, the girl broke down, the supervisor stated in court. The child kept telling her, “I will die.” During the lockdown, the school did not hear from the girl, after which she did not return to class.
