Delivery possible? – Discovered Europe’s most wanted drug lord

Date:

After years of a manhunt, one of Europe’s most wanted drug lords has now been discovered in Sierra Leone. Jos Leijdekkers was sentenced in the Netherlands to 24 years in prison for smuggling cocaine and the orders of murder.

A Belgian court also sentenced him to ten years in prison for drug trafficking and abuse. Researchers recently suspected that the Dutchman was in Turkey. The authorities assume that the 33-year-old tens of millions of euros has earned with cocaine smuggling, mainly through the ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Now he has been discovered in Sierra Leone, the police said.

As the public broadcaster NOS reported, the drug lord was spotted on photos with the president of the West African country. The Dutch broadcaster published a video clip in which the criminal seems to see in a church next to the president’s daughter. Sierra Leone plays a crucial role in the cocaine trade between South America and Europe.

Here you can see photos of the drug lord.

Do you already have a new nationality?
However, it would be difficult to get the person wanted to the Netherlands, the broadcaster reports. There is no extradition treaty with Sierra Leone. Leijdekkers may have already adopted the citizenship of the country.

The ports of the West African state serve as an important call for drugs from South America on their way to Europe. The country is also considered corrupt. Despite regular democratic elections, the country is in 108th place of the 180 most corrupt states on the corruption side list of the NGO Transparency International.
