After the driving test, new drivers are not finished learning, but continue to practice – driving safety training follows. ÖAMTC’s driving technique training is given under the motto “learning through experience”, which is why every participant drives themselves.
Driving safety training
Every year, more than 30,000 new driver’s license holders complete driving safety training at the ÖAMTC driving technology centers.
The extensive terrain with large shelters allows driving maneuvers to be performed at local speeds. Using automated irrigation systems, sliding surfaces and computer-controlled water obstacles, emergency braking maneuvers, correct avoidance, cornering and stabilizing a skidding car are trained under the guidance of trained instructors.
All participants have a 100% driving training. If you don’t have your own car, you can rent one from the modern fleet, but no care will be taken. Driving safety training must be completed three to nine months after obtaining a driving license B.
Motorcycling safety training
It is also important for young and new motorcyclists to receive driving safety training. The two-wheel centers, for example in Teesdorf just outside Vienna, have generous driving routes so that the maneuvers can be performed at realistic speeds. The anti-slip asphalt supports practical training content such as cornering techniques, steering techniques, various braking exercises and classic evasive maneuvers.
All exercises and content are trained at different speeds and constant feedback from experienced motorcycle instructors. To avoid having to take driving safety training in the winter, motorcyclists have two to twelve months to complete their driving safety training.
