Women’s Nightmare – Parking garage robbery: it happened in broad daylight

Date:

After a brutal attack in a parking garage in the center of Vienna, Nina F. was locked in the trunk of her car for twelve hours in the summer of 2006. The seriously injured woman was eventually able to free herself from her prison on her own. To this day, she still suffers the consequences of the crime.

Nina’s mother and her grandson were in the hospital with her daughter-in-law when she received a call: “Your daughter has had an accident.” – “A traffic accident?” the shocked woman asked. “No, an attack with intent to kill,” the voice on the other end of the line replied.

The woman immediately got into her car and drove to the general hospital, where she was met by a detective. “My daughter was in the shock room and then taken to intensive care,” the retiree recalled on July 25, 2006.

What happened to the then 36-year-old the night before is one of the country’s largest unsolved criminal cases. And the nightmare of countless women.

The crime scene: the underground parking garage at Schwedenplatz, in the center of Vienna. The time of the crime: an early summer evening with temperatures around 30 degrees, long periods of light outside and the streets full of life.

The tall, attractive victim at the time worked in the financial department of a large IT company that provided its employees with company parking spaces in the central parking garage: “It was the first day after my holiday in Spain. A Monday on which I wanted to play beach volleyball as usual after work,” reports the Viennese. She walked to her car around 6 p.m.
