A rare case of bird flu in a person alerted the British health authorities. The person from the West Midlands region was infected with infected birds on a farm – but the experts give everything for the broad population despite the dramatic diagnosis.
The person involved suffered the infection in a farm where they had longer and close contact with a large number of infected birds. According to the authority, the person is currently good and is being treated in a special department for high diseases.
Risk “very low”
The infected birds wore the Genotype Di.2, one of the well -known virus tribes that are circulating this season in Great Britain in birds. This differs from the tribes that currently occur in mammals and birds in the United States.
“Despite this confirmed case, the risk for the general population remains very low,” emphasizes Professor Susan Hopkins, senior medical consultant of the British health authority of the UKHSA. The transfer from birds to people is rare and has only taken place a few times in Britain.
Prevention measures taken
