Five skiers died in avalanches in the French Alps. A group from Norway was on a tour of the slopes when a big avalanche went out.
Four skiers were dragged along, three of them could only be restored to death. The fourth person was flown by helicopter to the Grenoble Hospital, but then also declared dead. The accident took place in the Savoy-Alpen in the Val-Cenis area.
Another skier from Switzerland traveled with her father and brother when she was hit by an avalanche in Vallorcine. The father of the 30-year-old was not injured, her brother was investigated in the hospital. They also traveled away from the slopes.
In the meantime, the authorities warned of the increased risk of avalanches. Already on Tuesday a 55-year-old British skier was struck by an avalanche in the Mont Blanc massif and died.
