In Newark, the largest city in the US state of New Jersey, nine people – eight adults and a teenager – were injured by gunshots outside a bar on Thursday evening. All the injured are in stable condition, according to the New York Times.
According to the newspaper, five of the injured were able to drive to hospital under their own power. According to local police, the youngest victim was 17 and the oldest 68. The perpetrator or perpetrators are on the run, it said Thursday evening.
At around 6:20 p.m. local time, authorities were alerted by a so-called ShotSpotter, a localization system for gunfire. The technology uses audio sensors to detect if there is shooting nearby.
