The police arrested a few on the Spanish island of Mallorca, who is said to have held an illegal immigrant on a luxury finca under slave -like conditions.
The inhabitants of the building, a man and a woman, were arrested, the police said.
False promises
They are accused of exploitation, human trafficking and promoting illegal immigration, reported media. The nationalities of the suspects and the crime scene were not announced.
Under false promises, the couple would have brought the illegal migrants to the Spanish holiday island. In addition to a job, he also promised an internship, a driver’s license and official articles. The victim had delivered “valuable information”, the police said.
Should the site not leave without permission
According to the official information, the man had to work every day between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. for monthly payments between 200 and 700 euros – without days off. He therefore worked in the building as a cleaning power, gardener and butler. At night he also occasionally performed as a guard.
A fully dilapidated barn away from the main building served as accommodation. He was only allowed to leave the area with the consent of the couple. After 21 months, the victim filed a complaint with the police.
