A proverbial own goal recently shot a few thieves in Vienna: the woman and the man at the age of 22 came to a police commissioner to show an alleged violation of ownership and immediately let a handbag go.
On the same day, however, researchers recognized them to guard surveillance videos and the bag. A raid eventually led to thiefs with a total value of 23,500 euros, the State Police reported.
Car was also stolen
Among other things, ATM and credit cards were guaranteed. It also turned out that the car with which the two came to the police station had also been stolen. The Syrians and the Austrian are now suspected that they have committed at least 30 thefts and burglaries in the entire Viennese area, the police said.
“Strange behavior” aroused suspicion
Because of the “somewhat strange behavior” of the couple in the Wakkere Chamber according to the police, the officials suspected the indicators themselves quickly as a possible handbag thieves. In the course of the research, the State Criminal Police Office finally discovered the stolen car on photos of a video camera that was installed in the underground parking space of a Viennese Shopping Center.
“The handbag could also be seen on the recording,” said a spokesperson. The video material eventually led to the investigation of the suspects and then for a house search. After securing the 23,500 euro prey, the handcuffs clicked on the site for the pair.
In the subsequent interrogation, the man denied the statement. The woman, on the other hand, took a partial confession. Both have already been taken to a prison.
