That was scarce and could have come up very badly: because two cyclists happened to pass by, a woman (54) survived her fatal excursion on an ice in Radfeld in the Tyrolean Unterland on Sunday afternoon.
The cyclists Alexander Komlusan (57) from Wörgl and Rene Angerer (63) from Kufstein do not afraid the winter months to do their usual rounds in the Inn Valley. Happy!
When the motorcyclists were on Sunday at 1 p.m. on the cycle path along the railway line in Radfeld, they heard calls for help. “I turned around and I was immediately aware that this was an emergency,” says Kommlusan.
Because there was a hole in the middle of the frozen biotope, there was a woman in the ice -cold water!
Long Branch made it possible to save the woman
“I first wanted to push my wheel over the ice surface, but that was too short,” the 57-year-old judges the dramatic seconds. Also at hand on the couch was too short.
Eventually the savior found a long branch that he extended to the woman. Little by little he managed to pull the exhausted lady to the couch. The ice broke over and over again, which made the rescue difficult.
At the start of the emergency, the men had agreed that Angerer would take over the emergency worker, who was reached quickly.
Police: “The woman would probably not have done it alone”
“The woman was already with her strength at the end,” emphasizes Komlusan. Shortly thereafter, the salvation, fire brigade, water rescuers and police arrived. Richard Hotter, commander of the responsible Inspectorate Kramsach: “The woman alone would no longer have done it out of the pond.” He praises first aid and the then perfectly functioning rescue chain. The 54-year-old still had 34.9 degrees body temperature, she was admitted to the Kufstein hospital, but was always available
The fatal idea to explore the ice had come after a visit to Rattenberg. It may have underestimated the danger of vulnerability.
