Trump imposes 25 % rates for steel and aluminum imports

The President of the United States, Donald Trumphas announced the entry into force since this Monday of the rates of the 25 % to steel and aluminum import. Moreover, since Tuesday it has also intended to impose mutual taxes on other commercial partners, regardless of the country where they will continue.

The Tycoon has not specified more details about the taxes for the import of steel and aluminum that apparently will contribute today. China He is the largest producer in the world of these two metals, so Beijing could also respond with more rates.

“It’s very simple: if they charge us, we charge them (..) If they charge us 130 % and we don’t charge them anything, it won’t work that way,” Trump told the media when he has been asked about the mutual rates.

In that sense, the Republican said that these rates will be put into practice “almost immediately” for “all countries”.

Chinese rates are coming into force

In this context this Monday additional rates of 10 % to 15 % will be in force for certain American products that China has announced in response to the taxes that the US government applies to Chinese goods.

Beijing also announced new checks for the most important mineral exports and started an antitrust study against the American technological giant Google.
