Since the era of Georg Willi (Greens), the ordering processes in Innsbruck’s town hall have been accompanied by some dissonant tones, which seriously disrupt the harmonious interaction in the town hall administration. The most recent case is an XXL vacation for the head of Human Resources.
“Management well positioned”
Although she has been in office for less than two years, political personnel manager Georg Willi gave her nine and a half weeks of vacation. This causes a lot of discussion among municipal officials. Mayor Willi said: “During the interview, she clearly said that she would only accept the position if she could embark on the journey she had long planned. So it is a matter of keeping a promise.”
The trip abroad had to be postponed several times because of Corona. Staying away is no problem: “That’s the advantage of a well-organized board: it offers alternative options for deputies.”
Long serving boss must go back
Another but long-serving head of cabinet must now very well cancel her holiday: because Innsbruck’s electoral authority is without leadership after the sudden resignation of a head of cabinet. In the run-up to the snap state elections on September 25 and the federal presidential election on October 9, this is quite explosive.

So explosive that Gabriele Herlitschka, director of the municipal administration, sent an email to employees “with an urgent request for active cooperation from all departments and offices”.
