Donald Trump’s former main strategist Steve Bannon guilty on Tuesday in a fraud procedure in connection with the wall construction on the border with Mexico.
In this case, Bannon and an organization called “We Build the Wall” (we are building the wall) were accused of money laundering and fraud by the public prosecutor in New York. For a year they would have collected more than $ 15 million from donors with false promises.
Former Trump consultant Bannon had already been temporarily arrested in August 2020 because of the suspicion of hitting large sums of donations together with three accomplices. The donations must therefore actually serve to finance Trump’s great election promise.
Four months in custody in the previous year
In this case, however, Bannon never came to court because Trump granted him grace on January 19, 2021 – one day before the end of his term of office. Because on January 6, 2021 he had refused to testify to Capitol for the Capitol by Trump supporters, Bannon had spent almost four months in a prison last year.
Bannon does not play an official role in the new government of Trump. However, he remains an influential figure for parts of political law in the US, especially through his podcast entitled “The War Room” (the Command Center).
