A 51-year-old is said to have brought one kilo of heroin and Crystal Meth from Turkey to Austria every month. No isolated case: the medicines that it is intended in this country are usually import. The “Kroon” asked where the illegal substances come from and how they find their way to us.
Two current examples show which cases the drug researchers deal with: for a Serbian dealer (37), in Wels in Upper Austria, as reported, the handcuffs clicked after more than half a kilo of heroin was found in his apartment. And a 51-year-old will be before the court in Linz next week, he would have brought 500 grams of heroin and Crystal Meth from Turkey to the country every month by transporting the drug or supplier.
“The frightening thing is that this is daily affairs for us,” says Rupert Ortner, head of the addictive group in the Upper Austria of the State Criminal Police Office (LKA). Most of the intoxicating agents that are in circulation are “imported”. The “Krone” interviewed the main investigator and the addiction and drug coordinator of the state of Upper Austria, Thomas Schwarzenbrunner, where the forbidden goods came from.
